This is a collection of my work from the Master of Arts in Education program at Michigan State University. I organized my showcase into two categories - teaching mathematics and teaching the whole child. Since I teach middle school math, many of my courses were centered around math education. However, I also chose some courses that focused on other important aspects of education such as classroom management and coaching youth sports. I am proud of this work and I believe it truly showcases the knowledge and skills that I have acquired throughout this program. Click on the pictures and videos below to view my work!

Geometry Online Resource Library
Number Talks Presentation
This website is a compilation of high-quality online tools and games relating to middle school geometry. I specifically picked resources that help students develop a conceptual understanding of geometry concepts in an engaging way. I wrote a detailed evaluation of each resource that unpacks the mathematics and explains the role of technology in facilitating learning.
In this video, I summarize and reflect upon my implementation of number talks, an intervention used to help students improve number sense. I used this intervention with a small group of 6th and 7th grade math enrichment students over the course of 4 weeks. This shows my ability to implement a research-based practice that focuses on the conceptual understanding of numbers.
Curriculum Analysis Project
In this project, I analyzed and adapted three lessons from my school's sixth grade math textbook to improve the quality of problem-solving tasks. This shows my ability to take a pre-existing resource and rearrange and modify its components to increase rigor and groupworthiness.
Number Talks Book Club
This is a clip of me facilitating a virtual book club discussion with fellow educators about
Making Number Talks Matter by Cathy Humphreys & Ruth Parker. The video shows us discussing questions that we had about implementing number talks into our classrooms.
Measurement Systems Vodcast
This vodcast, or digital presentation with a voiceover, is something I created as an instructional tool to introduce measurement systems to students. This shows my ability to create an engaging lesson introduction on a digitial platform.
Teaching the whole child
Behavioral Strategy Plan Slideshow
This presentation outlines the process of creating and implementing a behavior plan for a student who displayed non-compliant behaviors. I used a research-based strategy called self monitoring to increase compliance during math class. The slideshow summarizes the results of the intervention and provides suggestions for other educators.
Anti-Bullying Website
I created this website to promote anti-bullying to students, parents, and other educators. It consists of information and statistics about bullying, as well as resources to help prevent it. This shows my dedication to creating an inclusive classroom culture that is free of bullying and harassment.
Nets & Goals: A Positive Youth Development Program Essay
This essay outlines my plan for a positive youth development program called Nets & Goals. The purpose of the program is to help underprivileged, middle-school aged girls on the Eastern Shore of Virginia become goal-oriented individuals through the medium of basketball. This demonstrates my dedication to students outside of the classroom.
